London, U.K. May 20, 2015 — Lookout, the global leader in mobile security, today announced the appointment of Gert-Jan Schenk as VP of EMEA. At Lookout, Schenk will helm the company’s continued growth in the region including expanding the company’s product portfolio, establishing new channels and strengthening carrier partnerships. Schenk joins Lookout after more than twenty years in leadership positions in security and network software, most recently as Intel Security EMEA President, where he led the business to become the company’s highest performing region.
“The only way to get ahead of the bad actors and deal with the scale, complexity and intelligence of threats, particularly those on mobile, is to predict attacks before they do harm,” said Gert-Jan Schenk, VP of EMEA at Lookout. “Lookout’s approach to predictive security, combined with the company’s heritage and strength in the consumer market, gives me the confidence that Lookout is uniquely positioned to fundamentally change the mobile security game.”
Lookout has partnerships with the leading mobile operators throughout Europe, including Deutsche Telekom, EE and Orange Group. As the company extends its predictive security platform to the enterprise, helping organizations anticipate and defeat mobile threats, EMEA is a critical market.
“EMEA is a targeted, strategic growth area for Lookout, where the region makes up the largest portion of our consumer user base outside of the U.S.,” said Jim Dolce, CEO of Lookout. “Schenk’s prior experience in expanding product portfolios across EMEA and uncovering new growth markets makes him well-positioned to take Lookout to its next stage of growth in the region.”
Schenk joins Lookout after more than four years at Intel Security (formerly McAfee, acquired in 2011), where he turned around the EMEA business to be the company’s top performing region in terms of revenue and growth. Prior to joining Intel Security, Schenk held the role of senior vice president of EMEA at Juniper Networks where he managed 900 employees throughout EMEA and grew revenues from $600 million to $1.2 billion over three years. Before Juniper, Schenk was vice president, channels at Unisphere Networks (acquired by Juniper Networks in 2002).
This announcement comes alongside significant strategic growth and momentum at Lookout including development of a new technology development center in Boston, the establishment of Lookout Federal Systems for mobile security in the U.S. government marketplace and the addition of KDDI, one of Japan’s top mobile operators, to its roster of global carriers. Recently, Lookout was recognized as a Gartner “Cool Vendor” for its predictive security model.
