Lookout and FirstNet - A Powerful Partnership for Mobile Security

Cyberattacks against first responders are a persistent threat – a risk that is magnified because so many first responders work beyond the cybersecurity perimeter on mobile devices in the field. Compromised devices could enable unauthorized access to sensitive systems, confidential databases, and personally identifiable information (PII) of first responders. We're proud to announce that the Lookout for Work app is now FirstNet Listed and available via the FirstNet App Catalog to protect first responders from mobile threats.

Why FirstNet

FirstNet’s public safety mission is to create a nationwide mobile network for America’s public safety community. Working with AT&T, the FirstNet network will strengthen and modernize public safety’s communications capabilities, enabling them to coordinate and respond more quickly and effectively during accidents, disasters, and emergencies. And AT&T isn’t just building out the FirstNet national core and state-based radio networks; it is also applying its extensive expertise and advanced security systems to protect the network’s users, data, and applications.

Mobility is the driving force behind FirstNet. Mobility for first responders goes far beyond voice and email and now involves streaming data and video. While increasing performance and capabilities, these uses make existing devices progressively more vulnerable to myriad threats and attacks such as mobile phishing, malicious or risky apps and operating system issues.

These threats cannot be mitigated through existing technical controls. FirstNet entities must be able to identify and mitigate all threat vectors to the security and privacy of mobile devices and data as soon as possible. AT&T brings to the FirstNet ecosystem its many security relationships, including leading EMM and mobile threat defense vendors and providers of advanced solutions. One such important partner is Lookout.

Why Lookout

Lookout is the only FirstNet partner focused on mobile endpoint security and available in the FirstNet App Catalog. First responders should adopt the necessary security measures available today to ensure that traditional and mobile endpoints are protected against the growing landscape of cybersecurity threats.

To provide the best mobile protection for FirstNet users, a mobile security solution must protect against the Spectrum of Mobile Risk, including:

  • Web and content threats and risks such as mobile phishing attacks.
  • Malicious and risky apps such as Trojans, Spyware, Surveillanceware, etc.
  • Device threats and risks such as out of date operating systems, rooted or jailbroken devices.
  • Network threats and risks such as man-in-the-middle attacks and rogue Wi-Fi networks.

Lookout’s advanced solution can be seamlessly integrated with existing Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) and Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms to create true mobile protection for today's FirstNet organizations. Lookout integrates with all of the leading EMM/MDM platforms including those specifically approved within FirstNet such as VMWare AirWatch, MobileIron, and IBM MaasS360.

Lookout is FirstNet Listed and available now via the FirstNet contract. Lookout is proud to partner with AT&T and FirstNet to protect our country’s first responders from rapidly evolving mobile endpoint threats. Click here to learn more and read the press release.
